Sort Code Validation Accreditation Scheme

In 2010, the Payments Council sponsored the launch of the payment industry’s Sort Code Validation Accreditation Scheme; a voluntary scheme which seeks  to improve the distribution of bank reference data - specifically to help ensure sort code information within the UK payments industry is accurate and up-to-date.

The Scheme is aimed at those commercial companies that offer sort code validation products to businesses on a subscription basis and / or a ‘pay-per-use’ basis . Using up-to-date and accurate sort code information should help businesses ensure that their electronic payments are processed smoothly and minimise the risk of any errors or rejected payments. .

Thanks to this Scheme, accredited companies can promote their products with the Payments Council accreditation mark to reassure their customers that they are purchasing an industry-approved product .
